Importing Journal Entries
Importing Journal Entries requires the Journals to be setup first. Once setup, you can import entries into those journals.
Start by selecting File from the menu and then Import and then Import Data From External Files. This will open up the standard import window. Select Journals and follow the wizard to import the file. Import files for Journals should follow the following format:
- Journal name
Once your journals are imported, you can import your journal entries. You do not need to import journals every time you enter journal entries. Once the journals are imported, you can import entries as often as you'd like. The only need to import journals again is if you need to add new journals. Just keep in mind that the journals associated with the journal entry transactions must exist in Brass Jacks Bookkeeper before importing entries. Also note that Journal Entries are matched to their journal through the Journal Name. So it's critical that the journal name on each journal entry line matches exactly to the name of the journal. .
As you do with importing Journals, start by selecting File from the menu and then Import and then Import Data From External Files. Select Journal Entries and follow the wizard to import the file. Import files for Journal Entries should follow the following format:
- Journal name
- Entry Date
- Batch No
- Batch Desc
- Account
- Amount
- Line Item Description
- Customer Name
Once the journal entries have been imported, you can save the mapping you just created in order to use it later. If you save a template, the next time you import journal entries, Brass Jacks Bookkeeper will know that a template exists and you can select it to automatically preset the mapping.
