Form Transmission
Brass Jacks Bookkeeper only supports W-2, 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC for electronic file transmission. Before transmitting any files, make sure your account is setup with the third party service. Click here for how to setup your account with the third party service.
Note: Form transmission are only for the prior year.
Start by selecting which form you want to transmit and then click on Get Forms. The list of employees/contractors will show in the list with their total compensation for the year. You can choose to select any or all of the employees/contractors to transmit forms for.
When you're ready to transmit the forms, click the Transmit button. Brass Jacks Bookkeeper will transmit the data to the third party service.
If the files are transmitted successfully, a confirmation message will appear. Clicking OK, will bring you to the third party service site to complete the forms process.
Complete the steps in the transmission process by clicking Next. You can select which options and services on the left side of the screen.
During the process, certain states may require additional reconciliation. If your state does, run any necessary reports to obtain this information prior to submitting forms.
There is Help available through the service to assist with any questions you may have while submitting the forms.
Transmission Errors
If there is an error in transmission, a message will appear and when you click OK, you will be brought to a screen that shows what errors were encountered.
Clicking OK will bring you to a screen that shows what errors were encountered:
Most times, errors are caused by incomplete information being setup for the company, employee or contractor.
Retransmission
If you transmit a form for an employee/contractor and then transmit for that employee/contactor again, the information will be replaced with the latest data if the form has not been processed yet by the third party service.
