Depositing Payroll Taxes
Brass Jacks Bookkeeper consolidates your payroll tax withholdings to help you determine how much you owe to federal, state, and local tax authorities.
For information about the deadlines and requirements for reporting and depositing payroll taxes, consult your accountant or contact the applicable tax authority.
To enter your payroll tax deposits:
- Choose Payroll > Make Payroll Deposit, or click the Make Payroll Deposits icon in the Payroll section of the workspace.
- In the Payroll Deposits dialog box, in the From and To boxes in the Payroll Check Range area, specify the earliest and latest dates of payroll checks that were issued for the reporting period.
- In the Payroll Deposit Type area, select the taxing authority for the deposit: Federal, State, or Local.
- Verify that the amounts in the boxes are correct. (Brass Jacks Bookkeeper can only report totals based on information you have entered.)
- In the Payment area in the Quarter and Year boxes, specify the reporting period.
- Then select method of payment: Check or Bank Adjustment.
To pay by check, you must have the tax authority as a vendor. (See Managing Vendors.) - Click Save to complete the transaction.
- Repeat steps 3-7 for each taxing authority for which you need to make a deposit.
- When finished, click OK.
