Searching All Records
With Brass Jacks Bookkeeper you can search through all records by keyword, by dollar amount, or by using both. Once you enter the initial search criteria, you can further define a date range and specify the types of transactions and entities to include in the search.
Note: At a minimum, you must enter text or an amount and then specify the areas to search. The other fields are optional.
Keyword (or text) searches are not case sensitive. These searches include spaces. For example, to search for “Master Widget”:
- You can type “master widget” or “MASTER WIDGET” and the search will work. You can also include some of the text, such as “Master Wid” if you are not sure of the spelling
- You cannot enter MasterWidget for a successful search. You must include the space.
Note: Search does not allow wildcard characters, such as * and ?. Also, the search applies the OR boolean operator to provide more results.
To search through all records:
- Choose Search > Search All.
- In the Search All dialog box, to search for text, in the Text box, type the text to include in the search.
- To search for an amount, select an operator from the Amount list: >, =, or <. Then, type a dollar amount in the box.
>: Greater than searches for an amount greater than the amount you enter.
=: Equal to searches for the exact amount you enter.
<: Less than searches for an amount less than the amount you enter. - For an amount search, select either Line Item (within a record) or Total Transaction (only looks at the total for the record).
- To set a date range, either select a range from the Predefined list or click the From and To arrows to specify dates on a calendar.
