Defining Locations for Inventory Items

If you have a large inventory, you may need to define the location(s) where you store inventory items.

To define inventory location descriptions:
  1. Choose Inventory > Manage Inventory, or click the Manage Inventory icon in the Inventory section of the workspace.  
  2. In the Inventory dialog box, double-click an existing item or click Add.
  3. In the Inventory Detail dialog box, click the Location tab.
  4. On the Location tab, click the Location, Bay, Aisle, Row, Shelf, or Bin link.
  5. In the Inventory Location Maintenance dialog box, select a location type from the Location Type list.
    Which locations you actually define depend on how you store inventory.
  6. Type a description of the selected location.
  7. To add another description to this location type, click Add and then type the new description.
  8. Repeat steps 5-7 until you’re satisfied with the level of detail needed for your inventory.
  9. To delete a location, select it and click Delete. In the confirmation message, click Yes.
  10. Click OK.
