Adding Workers' Compensation Class Codes
With advanced payroll, you can specify Workers' Compensation class codes for various wages on the Wages tab in the Company Payroll Setup dialog box. These class codes need to be set up for each type of job before you can apply them to specific wage types.
Note: To open the Workers' Compensation Class Code Maintenance dialog box directly, choose Payroll > Manage Workers' Compensation Class Codes.
Check with your accountant about the codes and the rates to use.
To add workers' compensation class codes:
- Click Company Setup in the Company section of the task bar on the right.
- In the Company Information dialog box, click the Additional tab.
- On the Additional tab, click Payroll.
- In the Company Payroll Setup dialog box, click the Wages tab.
- On the Wages tab, click the Default Class Code link.
- In the Workers' Compensation Class Code Maintenance dialog box, click the Add button.
- In the new row, type a Class Code, an optional brief Description, and the Rate.
When typing the rate use a decimal value (.05) based on $1 instead of the percentage value (5) that is based on $100. - To add more class codes, repeat steps 6-7.
- To delete a class code, click one of the boxes in the row and then click Delete. In the confirmation message box, click Yes.
- To edit information, select the contents of a box and change the contents.
- To return to the Company Payroll Setup dialog box, click OK.
You can now specify a Default Class Code for a specify wage type.
