Setting Up User Permissions
You can set up several passwords with different levels of access to your Brass Jacks Bookkeeper data. This allows you to give others limited access to the program for data entry and invoicing without exposing sensitive accounting information.
The password you entered in the New Company Assistant wizard when you first started the program gives you unrestricted access. Each time you log in using this password, you have unrestricted access to the program.
When you set up a restricted-access password, logging in using the restricted password maintains the restrictions you set using the Password Maintenance dialog box.
Only users logged on using an unrestricted password can make changes to the passwords and permissions in the Password Maintenance dialog box.
Brass Jacks Bookkeeper provides four levels of access:
- Unrestricted: Users logged on using an unrestricted password can make changes to the passwords and permissions in the Password Maintenance dialog box. They can work with all Brass Jacks Bookkeeper features.
- Do not display account balance: Users with this access cannot view account balance information, but can work with most Brass Jacks Bookkeeper features.
- Do not allow payroll processing: Users with this access cannot do any payroll processing, but they can perform most other bookkeeping functions.
- Do not display account balance AND do not allow payroll processing: These users have the most restricted access. They do not have access to the most sensitive company information.
